Is peppermint good for reducing acid reflux?
Peppermint is known for soothing an upset stomach. Using it to reduce acid reflux is a big mistake. It relaxes your stomach muscles. There is a little muscle in the esophagus called the esophageal Sphincter muscle. When this muscle relaxes it will allow acid to back up into your esophagus making your acid reflux symptoms worse. Peppermint may have been known as a remedy for indigestion but not if you have acid issues like I do. We stay away from using peppermint in any of our T-Drops. There are far better choices that can help reduce acid reflux and calm your stomach. One of them is T-Drops # 5. It has a great cinnamon flavor and is a favorite among our tasters. Cinnamon is the secret ingredient that works great in helping digestion and reducing acid reflux. When
I have bad acid reflux, the cinnamon T-Drops #5 packs a punch and stops it quickly. Everyone may not believe me but would rather believe old wives tales. This reminds me of a funny story. My family was having a birthday party for my mother at a park. My sister heard from one of “the aunts”, an old wives tale about how peppermint oil keeps flies away from food. So, they had set out on a mission to distribute peppermint soaked napkins on all the tables. They assured everyone that tip came from the Amish. It kept the flies away but the swarms of bees kept us away. I sit back and chuckle to myself as I remember watching everyone scrambling to keep our picnic free from the uninvited guests. We learned a lesson about listening to old wife tales. They aren’t always true in every situation.
